In 2009 the Research Career Development Network (RCDN) Achievement award will be presented at the School Awards Dinner following the Symposium on Thursday 10th December. This is a cash prize of $500 with the aim of recognizing and rewarding early and mid career researchers within the School, primarily for their academic achievements over a 12 month period but also for their contribution to the School and/or Community in ways that have helped in developing their individual research careers.

Candidates nominate by forwarding a one page summary of their achievements for 2009 to Lorraine Mackenzie . This must include details of what stage the applicant is at in developing their research career. Closing date for applications is COB Friday November 20th, 2009. Late applications will not be considered.

This morning (Tuesday 3 November) about 15 loose plastic pipette tips were found scattered over the stairs in the centre stairwell between the 1st and 2nd floor of the MLS building.We are unable to ascertain if these have been used or not.

Someone could easily slip over on the stairs and hurt themselves quite badly. There is also the serious issue of potential biological waste being left lying around the building. This breaches both quarantine and OGTR Regulations and the School’s Waste Management Procedures.

If you drop something, please pick it up, even if you have to make a second trip. Please don’t leave any kind of waste uncontained and loose; make sure it is in its appropriate bin.
