Construction works for the IPAS temporary perform facility is scheduled to commence later this month and will continue until approx end Feb /early March 2010. The site hut for this project will shortly be set up at the eastern end of the Physics building and several car spaces outside of the Physics building will be temporary acquired for this project.
Works for this facility will mainly be concentrated in the ex-Huxley Suite G38 and the adjacent room G37a Physics building. An outside temporary service compound will be located at the eastern end of the Physics building which will include accommodating the on-site self-generating plant for several gases including hydrogen.
In respect to this project, there will be nil encroachment on teaching space located on the 2nd floor Physics building.
Builders will mainly access the work site via the ex-Huxley suite external doors. There will be times when the builders will need access to other space in the Physics building and here they have been asked to work via the School to ensure that appropriate notice is provided to occupants.
However, during the construction period all School staff and students are asked to be aware of these buildings works and to exercise caution in moving around the eastern end of the Physics building.
Whilst we will endeavour to try to keep disruption to operations to a minimal level, there will be a level of noise and disruption to services from time to time. Advanced notice will be provided to occupants of any disruption to services.
The IPAS temporary perform facility and the temporary service compound work areas will be construction sites and as such they will be off-limits to all staff and students.
If during the construction period you have any issues, please direct them to either myself of Blair Middlemiss (as the School’s lead support officer for this project).
Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated.
